The Bambir band with new drummer, new songs

November 29th, 2007 by anush

As another musical update, this one is about my favourite, the Bambir band. The good news about this band is that a new drummer has joined them, which resulted in a quick assembly of a one-hour program with new songs. This was greatly awaited, as I sometimes hear people complaining that they want new stuff, well here you go.

The photographs are from a concert Bambir gave on 21 November in Stop club. The club always welcomes them as those are the rare days when the club is packed with people.

As I said, the band has a new program and that’s what they presented during this concert. The songs are mostly in English. Here’s what Narek Bambir says about his ideas and what he concentrates on lately when writing the songs:

“Some songs, like the ‘Imitate’, are about the fact that being from Caucasus, we have always imitated strong nations next to us, like Georgia has imitated Byzantines and Armenia has imitated Iran. Other songs are about how a person can be spoiled by nationalism, or how he can be affected by his society. The society can not only be useful but also damaging.”

To say shortly about the new drummer, Vardan now Bambir is from Vanadzor, former Kirovakan. Vardan abandoned his university in Vanadzor to move to Yerevan and join the Bambir. Apart from that he’s got a lovable personality.

The band will perform once again in Stop club on 8 December, the date when John Lennon was killed, and which also the birthday of Jim Morrison.

For other info about Bambir you can take a look at their myspace and facebook.
