Georgian authorities have gone berserk

November 7th, 2007 by jibs

The Imedi TV journalists were threatened with force, kicked out from the TV station and had their mobiles phones seized.

Kakha Kukava, journalist Giorgi Targamadze and Zviad Dzidziguri were arrested…

A person was just beaten up by the additional internal affairs troops entering the TV station…

In how many democratic countries does this happen???

Probably Imedi TV will be unveiled as Russian traitor TV… Shameful. This starts to look like clear-cut dictatorship…

    I agree.

I listened to a late night show on Rustavi2 TV, involving Ramishvili - some ideologue. It was unbelievable to hear his justification of shutting down probably the only independent TV station (2 actually) - and coming from whom? From the people who were catapulted to power through Rustavi2 TV!! I suppose they learned from Shevarnadze’s mistakes.

Although I have no fantasy that the opposition will be any better, if they come to power. There are too many ambitious figures there, and I think there aren’t enough Minster positions for all of them.

However, I can’t support what was done to Imedi TV - this is an answer to free word and alternative view. If someone thinks that having one view is better than two, then he just google these words and see what period in history comes up.

Another thing - a question to those in Tbilisi now: do anyone buy the Russian conspiracy theory???

This government keeps people in information vacuum. This is form of terrorism people unable to receive any kind of information. This government keeps there citizens as the hostages.

When western politicians speaking about bringing democracy in countries like Iraq and even using the force for it. It seems to me that they bring democracy in countries in which they are interested for several reasons not in countries where it is needed.
